
So, why the dogs? I’m not some dog-obsessed nut, but my long-standing commercial background in still-life led me to photograph these extraordinary animals in a monumental, still-life fashion. From there came the flowers (who doesn’t think flowers beautiful? – especially these. Long, hot days in dahlia fields in Cornwall produced these photographs), and of course the budgies. “I have never seen so much personality in a bird” was how one art-director described them. Commercially, I have spent years doing, among other things, corporate portraits. The link is neither conscious nor obvious, but, with all their ‘personality’, perhaps the budgies are something of a wry look at what it means to photograph a board of directors for endless annual reports…

June 2010.
My big news this month is the opening of my solo exhibition 'Ethnographs' in London, on 22nd june until 10th July, at the Art Work Space gallery.

Also this month my babies (pigeons) got a 2nd place Merit of Excellence along with an honorable mention and 4 nominations in the International Colour Awards. Thanks to Gary Eaton from the Corringham Fancy Pigeon Club.
Applied Arts 2010 Photography & Illustration Annual has just been published including my winning entries in 'Portrait Photography' category - series entitled 'Ethnograph' and in 'Limited Edition Gallery Prints' category - series entitled 'Ethnograph'.
